What Job Title Leads to the Most Misery?

CareerBliss and www.seattlepi.com recently examined 24,000 employee evaluations across more than 250 types of positions to see which job title is linked to the least happy employees.

They developed what they call a “bliss score,” which rates an employee’s overall happiness on a scale of one to five. Some of the factors they weighed include work-life balance, relationship with coworkers, work environment and compensation.

Here are the top 20 least happy employees out there:

1. Analyst
Bliss score: 2.914

2. Dispatcher
Bliss score: 2.938

3. Program coordinator
Bliss score: 2.950

4. Pharmacy technician
Bliss score: 2.954

5. Teacher
Bliss score: 2.963

6. Senior buyer
Bliss score: 3.039

7. Clerk
Bliss score: 3.048

8. Assistant professor
Bliss score: 3.053

9. Operator
Bliss score: 3.074

10. Engineer
Bliss score: 3.099

11. QA specialist
Bliss score: 3.104

12. Customer service associate
Bliss score: 3.144

13. Legal assistant
Bliss score: 3.146

14. Registered nurse
Bliss score: 3.147

15. Security officer
Bliss score: 3.180

16. Driver
Bliss score: 3.206

17. Cashier
Bliss score: 3.226

18. Operations supervisor
Bliss score: 3.230
